Almond Squares


Crust
3 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 cup sugar
1 cup butter or margarine, softened
1/2 teaspoon salt

Filling
4 eggs
1 1/2 cups light or dark corn syrup
1 1/2 cups sugar
3 tablespoons butter or margarine, melted
1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla
2 1/2 cups chopped almonds

• Preheat oven to 350F°
• To prepare crust, blend flour, sugar, butter and salt in large mixing bowl until mixture
   resembles coarse crumbs.
• Press firmly and evenly into greased 15 inch x 10 inch x 1 inch baking pan.
• Bake for 20 minutes.
• In a separate bowl, combine first five ingredients for filling.
• Stir in almonds.
• Spread mixture evenly over hot crust.
• Bake for 25 minutes or until set.
• Cool on a wire rack.
